Tutor’s Teaching Background

As a student who has also gone through the secondary school process, I have experienced the struggles that students face, and I also know how to navigate through the academic syllabus and meet marker's expectations. I take a purposeful approach by trying to understand the child and the subject requirements to craft a plan that suits their learning style while meeting the subject criteria. Using my own experience of teaching my fellow schoolmates as well as through my own learning experiences, I do my best to break down concepts into small yet understandable chunks, and try to provide engaging lessons and quality resources for the tutee. For different subjects, I aim to achieve different goals to train relevant skills, but vary my approach based on the student's learning style. For example, Geography is a subject where analysis and application of concepts are important in understanding questions and scoring marks. To train the student, different engaging ways can be used (e.g. using real-life examples that can be engaging and visually appealing) to test their understanding of certain geographic concepts and ability to break down case-studies. Through improved analysis and application, students can have a greater ability to understand and retain the information, which is also very important to help them use key concepts during exams.
