Tutor’s Teaching Background

I am a part time tutor teaching tuition at 2 different tuition centres for 4 years and counting, mostly specialising in upper sec Chem and Bio, occasionally some lower sec science and upper sec math classes too. I recently took on the role of Teaching Assistant at another centre that specialises in sec/IP English and JC GP. My strength is in helping students draw links between different topics, identifying common question types and helping them familiarise themselves with answer templates and keywords required in their answers! I am also extremely patient, and will share my own tips and tricks on how to answer various questions with my students. My greatest strength, however, is I graduated from O and A Level rather recently AND also faced my own share of struggles in these same subjects that I now specialise and am confident in teaching - meaning that I truly understand where, how and why my prospective students are not performing currently. Most memorable/impactful teaching experience: I had only 3 months to tutor a student (Nicholas) getting F9 for Pure Chemistry. I worked diligently with him 3 hours per week and was heartened to hear back from him that he got A1 for his O Levels! Testimonial from Nicholas that he left with the centre: "Special thanks to teacher Truman for helping me in bridging conceptual gaps and gaining mastery in o level Chemistry!" This year (2026), I am teaching 3 regular classes - NA Combined Chemistry/Physics, O Level Pure Biology, O Level Pure Physics All my prior and present experiences allow me to continuously refine my skill sets and pedagogy, as well as being more aware of how to approach different students of different backgrounds and learning abilities and tailor my delivery of content.
