Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have over two years of teaching experience at Kumon Singapore, a leading global education centre that focuses on developing strong foundational skills in Mathematics and English through its self-learning methodology. During my time at Kumon, I taught students ranging from preschool to Secondary 4, working with learners of varying abilities and helping them build confidence, discipline, and independent learning habits. I am also currently working at First Principles Education as a Study Skills Specialist, where I design personalised study programmes to enhance student performance, conduct one-to-one and group coaching to improve focus and motivation, and work closely with parents and educators to align learning strategies with each student’s academic goals. In addition, I have gone to MOE schools to run study skills workshops, where I train students on how to study more efficiently, manage their time better and adopt effective learning strategies. In terms of direct tutoring experience, I taught a Primary 6 student Mathematics for four months, where he improved from consistent single-digit failures to scoring 65 for his PSLE, representing a jump of at least three grade bands. I also recently conducted one-to-one online tutoring for a H2 Mathematics student for two months before her A-Levels, during which her practice paper grades improved by two grades and her confidence in tackling exam questions increased significantly.
