Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have taught in a MOE secondary school for 4.5 years and currently teach Geography at all levels (Sec 1 to 4) as well as Social Studies at Sec 4 level, across both streams (Express and Normal (Academic).  I am an experienced, EdTech-oriented teacher focused on practice-oriented approaches for students to achieve total mastery in their preparation for exams. At school level, I have experience with both Normal (Academic) and Express classes across all levels. My Express classes consistently achieve above 90% pass rate and above 40% distinction rate. For tuition, I adopt a similar practice-mastery approach. My knowledge of the exam syllabus and student learning patterns informs my teaching for tuition. A typical tuition session consists of:- On the spot diagnostic practice, - Error analysis of homework practice, - Mini-lecture using online and hard copy resources, - One more round of practice is given to ensure mastery before lesson ends. In addition, I discuss with my tutees and parents to align my resources with that of the school (ensures parity in terms of answering exam questions). I have previously tutored 2 students at JC level (Geography and Biology) and 3 students at secondary level (Geography and English) - I am currently tutoring Sec 4 Geography and Social Studies. I am experienced in both long-term assignments and short-term (crash course) assignments for tuition. I provide all resources and suggested answers as well.
