Tutor’s Teaching Background

Currently a Political Science and Chinese Studies double major at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Currently teaching 1 J2 student H1 GP. Graduated from Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) and obtained 90/90 RP for A levels in 2022. Took H3 Chinese Language and Literature (CLL), H2 Chinese Language and Literature (CLL), H2 China Studies in Chinese (CSC), H2 Economics, H1 Mathematics, H1 General Paper, and obtained A for all subjects. Taught H2 Chinese Language & Literature for 2 years and student saw an improvement from E to B in 6 months. Can provide notes for H2 CLL. Taught H1 GP for one year and the student saw an improvement from D to B in 6 months. Teaching methodology is to first identify weaknesses of the student (reading, writing, further thinking etc). After which I will focus on brushing up on skills those weaknesses based on school materials and some external materials (novels, passages, essays etc). Homework is only given on a needs basis so as not to overwhelm the student or encourage sloppy work. However, this can be adjusted based on the needs of the student or the request of parents. Beyond that, I am able to provide guidance as an ex-student both academically, and in general life. I am also able to guide the student in finding effective ways of independent learning (study methods, time management, exam tips).
