Tutor’s Teaching Background

I am an NUS Biomedical Engineering undergraduate (minoring in entrepreneurship) with a background in student club leadership, competitive sports, and theater. I have 1 year of formal school teaching experience as an MOE-appointed tutor at Yio Chu Kang Secondary School, teaching Secondary 3 and 4 students. In my O Levels (ACSI) I scored A1s in Biology, E-Math, A-Math, and History, and an A2 in Chemistry. In my A levels (National Junior College) I scored As in H2 Biology, H2 Math and H2 Chemistry I have some experience in special education as I taught special needs children for half a year during NS as well as in volunteering trips overseas in Malaysia (1 week) and Thailand (1 month). My teaching style specifically suits weaker students trying to lift their grades. I focus on breaking down STEM and history concepts to their core basics using real-world analogies rather than forcing students to blindly follow formulas. For content-heavy subjects like Biology, Chemistry, and History, I teach students how to build "mental palaces" using organized mind maps to link chapters together. I specialize in helping failing students rapidly improve by teaching them how to master the Cambridge syllabus and spot exam traps. In my last batch of 4 students, all were originally failing with grades between C5 and F9. After just 3 months of lessons, 3 of these students jumped from failing to an A1 for E-Math, while the remaining student successfully pulled their grade up from failing to a B3 for A-Math.
