Tutor’s Teaching Background

I've taught secondary schools' mathematics (A and E maths, and lower secondary math) during my polytechnic and NS time for 4 years plus as a 1-to-1 tutor on a part-time basis (twice a week). I have helped my students improve their results. One of them who is an Express student got an A1 after teaching/guiding her from Sec 3-4 for her 'O' level. Her mother engaged me to improve her daughter's result as she has gotten 60+ mark in her Sec-2 mathematics result. Her mother hoped that 1-to-1 tuition will be able to help on her daughter's weakest subject and I'm happy that she has achieved result she has put in effort to do so.

Another student has engaged me by her sister. This student's sister was recommended by the 1st student's mother. This student has poor foundation in her Sec-1 math result (50+ mark) and I've managed to help her improve her result to 70+ mark in her 'N' level exam from 2nd half of Sec-2 to Sec-4. Due to her weakness and poor foundation in math, I've usually spent more time than the usual tuition hours to teach this student. It is worth all the extra hours put in as I derived great satisfaction in seeing her improve her result finally.

I have also shared my own experience with the students on how as a late developer myself (I am a weak student during my Secondary education but have excels in my studies post secondary education) to encourage my studentsto work hard and be resilient.

I have a successful career and have embarked on continous education which included an MBA and the latest course on Full Stack Web Development (I've an Electrical & Electronics Engineering degree which trained me on both hardware and software/coding). In my past and current businesses, I have put my knowledge learnt during my MBA course to good use by being the financial guy in the company. I have set up the company's accouting system, doing book-keeping, preparing financial reports and performing financial analysis. I am also responsible in working with external auditor and accounting firm in the registration of new company and filing of financial reports to ACRA/IRAS. The practical experience I have will serve well for me to teach Principles of Accounts and to share useful applications on this subject.

I'm now entering retirement and will like to teach part-time again. I'm sure I will be able to pass my knowledge and experience to the younger generation and to help them excel in their studies. So I'm looking forward to help and influence students who might need my engagement.
