Tutor’s Teaching Background

Private tutor: 2004-2026 NIE: 2005-2013 Experienced Chinese Language Tutor with a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences from the National University of Singapore (NUS). I specialise in providing personalised Chinese tuition for students of different abilities, learning styles and proficiency levels. My teaching approach is student-centred and focuses on identifying each student’s individual learning needs, strengths and areas for improvement. I use interactive techniques such as conversational practice, games, mind mapping and customised learning materials to make lessons engaging while strengthening students’ language foundations. I have experience teaching students who find Chinese particularly challenging, as well as foreign and non-Chinese-speaking students. I am comfortable conducting lessons bilingually in English and Chinese to ensure that students understand concepts clearly. I also have experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including dyslexia, ADHD and mild autism, and adapt my teaching methods according to each student’s learning pace and abilities. In addition to improving academic performance, I place strong emphasis on building confidence, developing effective learning strategies and helping students become more comfortable and motivated in using the Chinese language.
