Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have been teaching in mainstream preschools and special needs schools for over 13 years, with children aged 2 to 12 years old. I have taught English, Phonics and Math in preschool and worked with students with ASD, ADHD, speech delays and learning difficulties in special needs schools. As a senior teacher, I have coached teachers in private early intervention centre by introducing structured teaching, play-based activities and strength-based approach. I attended Jolly Phonics workshop and hold a Certificate in Autism from Autism Resource Centre @ Pathlight. In addition, I have an Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs) from NIEC. My current pool of students have developmental or learning delays and I have taught some of them to read in a few short months adapting from Jolly phonics and my own set of phonics materials. Personality-wise, I'm very patient, responsible and organised who enjoys connecting with the students and helping them to unleash their potentials. I like to include hands-on manipulatives, songs, visual aids, readers, and games to engage students. One of my strengths is identifying the underlying difficulties and bridging those gaps using the knowledge and methodologies that I gained while teaching special needs children.
