Tutor’s Teaching Background

I'm Lucy Lauron, a fresh graduate from the National University of Singapore with a degree in Political Science and completed the full curriculum of NUS College. I'm very experienced in teaching English and humanities subjects (specifically essay-writing and comprehension skills) due to my experience as a Political Science student and as a part-time tutor. During my university candidature, I was also tutoring part-time for upper secondary and A-level students. I managed up to two students at a time teaching General Paper, English, Literature or History. During COVID, I also taught through Zoom and made use of its interactive features to conduct classes and keep students interested and engaged, and used Google Drive for my students to submit work and for me to return marked work before class. For each student, I developed personalised lesson plans and activities to target specific areas of academic weakness. As such, I improved students’ comprehension on English and Humanities subjects (Literature, History) and essay writing skills, consistently bringing their grades from a Ds to As. Currently, I’m freelancing as a journalist for Female Magazine, a fashion, arts and youth culture magazine under SPH before I begin my Masters’ in Journalism in 2026.
