Tutor’s Teaching Background

The subjects I teach are English,Math,Tamil, Higher Tamil and Science for Primary School and for Secondary School, I teach English,Emath, Amath,History,Tamil and Higher Tamil. I am very familiar and up-to date with the MOE syllabus. I have three years experience with both 1-1 tuition and group tuition I have three years experience with both 1-1 tuition and group tuition. In 2021, my friends and I initiated a Buddy Mentorship Programme whereby I taught a group of 20 Primary School Students from lower-income households weekly for around 6-7 months. This allowed me to gain experience in tutoring more than one child at a time where each student would have queries in different subjects (English,Math and Science). As for private tuition, I have taught two P5 students for tamil, 1 P5 student for Math whom is now studying in RVHS, having made a 60% grade improvement by the end of the year. I am currently taking a Secondary 4 express student for Amath and English, a Primary 5 student for Math and science, primary 5 and 6 student for english. Next year, I am engaging in the exclusive MOE Teaching Internship to further hone my teaching skills. As for my teaching style, in the first lesson, my goal is to assess the student’s strengths and weaknesses while building rapport. This includes discussing learning challenges, administering a short quiz, and using this information to create a personalized plan. Establishing trust is key to creating a supportive learning environment. In subsequent lessons, I aim to be 1–2 weeks ahead of the syllabus, though I am flexible based on the student’s needs. I use a variety of resources, including textbooks, worksheets, and practice papers, to ensure thorough coverage of topics, with extra focus on weaker areas. I encourage students to clarify doubts via WhatsApp for continuous support. Timely completion of both tuition and schoolwork is emphasized, with regular practice questions and homework. Revision materials will be provided to build confidence. I conduct quizzes and mock exams to gauge progress and ensure exam readiness. I believe every student can achieve academic excellence with patience, consistent effort, and tailored guidance, fostering both confidence and a positive learning attitude. For lessons leading up to exam, I plan to conduct revision/recap of topics or areas where the student is struggling in, run through commonly tested questions and mistakes which the student does regularly and conduct mock exams.
