Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have 11 years of experience teaching students 1-1 in English and Literature, from Primary level all the way to University level. I am familiar with both local and international school curriculum, including PSLE, O/N/A' levels and IGCSE/IB. I have taught students from different countries, different mental conditions (ie. borderline personality disorder) and intellectual capabilities, including students with special needs, to students from gifted programs and top schools. My teaching style centers around sharing and exposing students to a great range of general knowledge, developing cognitive, written and verbal skills like being able to constructively discuss a topic, think critically, analyze deeply, write skillfully and research wisely.

For students with special needs like ASD or mental conditions like Bipolar, I take extra care to be sensitive to their needs and habits, by first understanding them on a personal level. I also conduct my own research on their conditions as well as recommended teaching methods from scientific research databases, when formulating an approach and plan for the student. I am comfortable working closely with parents.
