Tutor’s Teaching Background

About My Tutoring I provide 1-to-1 violin tutoring for players of all levels—from beginners taking their first steps to advanced musicians refining their artistry. I am thoroughly familiar with both ABRSM and Trinity College London requirements and hold an ABRSM Grade 8 Practical (Violin) and a Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) Performance Diploma with High Distinction. My students include orchestra members at both Secondary and Junior College levels, many of whom are part of prestigious school orchestras that have achieved Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF). My Teaching Approach I specialize in performance improvement and public performance preparation, helping students not only play technically accurate pieces but bring them to life with musicality and expression. Music is more than hitting the right notes—it's about telling a story and connecting with your audience. I focus on building strong technical foundations that enable rapid and sustained progression. Students typically see significant improvement within just a few months, developing skills that benefit them throughout their musical journey. My approach emphasises both right-hand technique (often overlooked) and left-hand technique, helping students develop confidence and overall ability as violinists. Beyond technical skills, I guide students to critically evaluate their own intonation, rhythm, tone quality, and phrasing—essential tools for independent practice and faster progression as musicians.
