Tutor’s Teaching Background

Prior to going abroad for tertiary education, I was providing 1-to-1 tuition to primary school students on English and Chinese. When I was in university, I volunteered in my school's pro bono legal clinic and taught law to secondary students.

There is no "one size fits all" formula to learning. It is pivotal to recognise that different people learn things differently. It is therefore important to empathise with the challenges that students face at school, as this has direct impact on the way they learn. While my priority is to understand my students' challenges and help them to improve their grades accordingly, I also hope to build my students' confidence and develop their interests and aspirations. 

As a litigation lawyer, a large part of my job is to understand my clients' position and the challenges that each of these clients may face, and accordingly find a way to solve these problems and place my clients in a stronger position.

I practise advocacy and essay writing on a daily basis. I often have to read and comprehend legal authorities, and find the answers to my clients' legal problems and/or the questions that the Court may have. Therefore, I am able to relate to the challenges that students face while trying to express their thoughts. As such, I am confident that I am equipped with the necessarily skills to teach, help (and hopefully, inspire) my students.
