Tutor’s Teaching Background

I bring a strong combination of teaching experience, subject expertise, and understanding of child development. With 1.5+ years as a phonics instructor, I have taught 10-15 students aged 3–7, including those with diverse learning needs such as ADHD and language delays. My students have shown clear improvements in reading, phonemic awareness, focus, and confidence. I specialise in phonics (ages 2–7) and Primary English and Mathematics, and I adapt my teaching style to suit each child’s pace and learning needs. Rather than relying on rigid methods, I use interactive, multi-sensory approaches such as games, visuals, and structured breakdown of concepts to keep lessons engaging and effective. With a background in Psychology and as an incoming Master’s student in Counselling and Guidance at Nanyang Technological University, I am able to better understand children’s behaviours and provide a patient, supportive, and structured learning environment. I focus not just on academic results, but also on building confidence, motivation, and a positive attitude towards learning.
